How did I wait so long to pick up this book?! This has been on my "Priority-Reads" shelf for months and I finally found the time to grab it and read, and DANG am I happy that I did! This was such a fantastic and unique little story, and I was captivated from the first line:'Life was the illusion of living, but dying a little bit everyday, since the day you were born.'
Can you say jaw-dropper?! Amazing. What an inspired read, and there's more where this comes from!
I loved the original names of the majority of these characters (even if most of them were impossible to pronounce and it took me FOREVER to settle on one for Mo). And while Mothachail may have given her namesake truth in the beginning, by the end of this book she had overcome everything that her name intended her to be, "Oblivious." And Mo is such a captivating character! She had me cry-laughing throughout this entire book. That woman is blunt and tough as nails. She doesn't take crap from anyone. Go Mo!
So, there were a few things I didn't particularly care for or understand when it came to this book. Firstly, the instant attraction/adoration that literally EVERY GUY seems to have upon meeting Mo (I'm looking at you Iann). I get that she's a Succubus and possess an even sexier attitude than she does body (which sounds pretty great to start with), but COME. ON. What is with Iann's super-crush on Mo? Where does it come from? It bears a striking resemblance to Fenix's devotion to Mo, except that Mo doesn't feel the same way like she does for Nix. Yeah...that bugged me just a bit.
Another character that I was grateful for and bothered me at the same time: Diamas. Isn't it convenient that everyone seemed to see her for the crazy that she is just when Mo pops into their lives? I mean, she was going to be their QUEEN some day. And everyone treated her like she was some evil creature while her dad seemed completely oblivious (hehe) to her darker nature.
I am thankful that Diamas was there though. We needed at least ONE PERSON (preferably someone close to the family if not family itself) that was having NONE of Mo. Everything looked far too fairy-tale-esque without Diamas there. However, I was severely disappointed by her 'Master plan' at the end of the book. Kind of anticlimactic after hearing about what a warrior she was.
Only other thing in this book that I am sinning is the grammar. Too many errors to reasonably ignore, and it confused me at times trying to decipher what was meant to be said by the author.
Other than that, FABULOUS. The Four Kingdoms of Gaia: Urisk (fae-demons), Bajang (shifters), Leviathan (giants/water-creatures), and Incubi/Succubi (sex-demons). Plus the humans who were oblivious (hehe) to their existence. Very well-done. However, I did not see much of that dramatic split between the Kingdoms that everyone said was there. Maybe because Mo was already bringing people together after first appearing; though I would have liked to see some of that feuding to truly grasp the peril that the Four Kingdoms were at with one another.
All in all, I was very pleased with this little story, and I liked the multiple POVs used throughout the story too (most of the time). It helped to broaden the character traits of our main characters and get a sense of what everyone was feeling, especially with MO's arrival. Very intriguing. I would highly recommend this book to those with a love of the paranormal and a desire to try something a bit unorthodox from your typical YA Paranormal/Fantasy reads.

Oblivious Four Kingdoms Saga Book 1 edition by Bri Amari Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I know that people say I am tired of troupes but the truth everything, every situation has been written (I mean human written existence has been long) and the only thing that writers can do now is put their own spin on the story and us as reader be grateful for the stories they give us.
Oblivious is about a woman named Mo who knows she was adopted by loving parents but finds out she is really a big part of a magical kingdom. Mo is funny, sassy, caring and creative. Mo and her best friend Jazz own a store where they make their own goods. They are really close with each other, they are everything you think of when you think of best friends and I love them together. One night Mo gets abducted and that is where everything begins.
I loved this story, it drew me in and I couldn't wait to pick the book back up again. The world, the characters and story was really interesting, at times I found myself laughing out loud. The only problem I had was that a really big event happened near the end of the book and it was just kinda glossed over and not resolved. I think an extra chapter could have been written in order for everyone to come to some kind of resolve. Also those names, I know I was pronouncing them correctly and that was kinda irritating but that is what writers do, they give us unpronounceable.
Oblivious was magical and funny, with family and friends, fights and friendship. I wasn't even half-way finished with Oblivious when the next book in the series, Opalescent, came up for pre-order on and I clicked the buy button. I can't wait to read the rest of this series.
This book was great. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Can't wait to read more from this Author.
Wonderful story and characters. Had me smiling and laughing and crying (just a little) throughout. Wrapped up and has me wondering. Thanx!
I was hooked from the first page, could not put the book down. Learning about the different races and kingdoms was fascinating. Will definitely continue the series.
I'm not sure where o found this book but it was on my kindle! I could not put it down!! Such agreed read!! I can't wait to pick up the next book!! Well done, Bri Amari!!
I loved this book! Quite a mixture of characters from incubi to dragons set in a realm just out of sight from our own. I look forward to the continuing story in the next book!
Amari has created an unique world, borrowing myths and legends and making them her own in this royal fantasy book. There are a plethora of editing errors (I could have overlooked a few more if it wasn't for all of the possessive apostrophes missing) and the text feels unfinished even though some parts made me laugh out loud. The view points alter, and some voices stand out more than others. I connected to Mo, the main character the best, and I felt unconnected from King Basan, who laments how troublesome it is to have curly hair, and sounds like a child instead of a big bad succubus king. I think Amari is brilliant at her core, but when a book is published without the technical edits it needs, it's natural for reviews like these to pop up. When any book is published, it becomes subjected to review. I believe Amari's work can shine at five stars, it just needs some care, devotion, and polish by beta readers and an editor. Some readers can overlook errors for a great plot, and if that's you, look no further than Oblivious.
